Gertrude McCorkle

Gertrude McCorkle, 89, of Prescott, died March 21, 2005, in Hope.

She was retired from Clovis Hicks Farm. She was born February 15, 1916, in Columbus. She was a member of The United Pentecostal Church of Laneburg. She was the daughter of Jessie Mullins and Edna Thompson Evans.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence McCorkle; her parents; a son, James W. McCorkle; a daughter, Eva Korenek; four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include: two sons, Billy Ray McCorkle of East Dundee, Ill. and David McCorkle of Prescott; two daughters, Geneva McLelland of De Queen and Ima Jean Martin of Bogart, Tex.; a sister, Mildred Yates of Hope; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Thursday, March 24, 2005, at 2 p.m. at New Salem Cemetery in Laneburg with Bro. Wilburn Wesson officiating, under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home.

Visitation was Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Herndon Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to New Salem Church or New Salem Cemetery.

Services under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home Inc. in Hope.
