Gurdons City Council voted unanimously to have the annual Gurdon Citywide Clean-up from Saturday, April 2 through Saturday, April 9.

Tambra Childres, recorder/treasurer, said, Our Water Department employees do not read meters that week so they can assist the Street Department.

The clean-up involves the city conducting curbside pick-up for household items. All items must be curbside accessible from the street.

Put items curbside and then call the City Hall at 353-2514 for pick-up service.

Childres asks that all items are ready when the call is made, as there will be one pick-up per family.

Items accepted include: appliances, furniture, old building materials and household junk.

Items not accepted include: garbage, bagged items or canned foods. Also, no tires will be accepted.

We will accept limbs cut in maximum of four feet lengths, she said. Please put the limbs and brush in a separate pile from your household items. We will not pick up limbs etc. cut by commercial haulers.

The purpose of the annual clean-up, she said, is to help get rid of items not normally picked up by weekly garbage collection.

We can handle old televisions and such, she said. But we can not take old chemicals. If you have questions on your items, call us and ask before we come out.
