Myrtle HastingsPublished Wednesday, March 23, 2005 in the Nevada County PicayuneMrs. Myrtle Hastings, 94, of Prescott, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab in Prescott. She was born on January 10, 1911, to Henry and Dallas Steeley in Scottsboro, Ala., and moved to Nevada County in 1933. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church of Prescott. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis Hastings; two son, Loyd William Hastings and Floyd Henry Hastings; one daughter, Christine Sutton; two sisters, Lydia Mount and Effie Westmoreland; and by two grandsons, Richard Lynn Hastings and Todd Douglas Lewis. Her survivors include: two sons, Jim B. Hastings of Little Rock and James Ray Hastings of Bauxite; three daughters, Edith Hunter of Prescott, Shirley Nicholson of Little Rock and Alvline Lewis of Russelville; 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. Jimmy Bobo officiating. Burial followed in New Salem Cemetery in Laneburg. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott. Family received friends Saturday, march 19, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
