Rufus Marlar

Mr. Rufus G. Marlar, 82, of Prescott, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.

He was born on April 28, 1922, in Nevada County to William A. and Zee Sandifer Marlar. He was a mechanic, a WWII Army Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater and a Baptist.

Preceded in death by his wife, Pauline White Marlar and two sons, Danny and Jimmy Marlar.

Survivors include: one daughter, Nedra Hopkins of Texarkana, Ark.; two sons, Gary Marlar of Texarkana, Tex. and Bobby Marlar of Prescott; one brother, J.W. Marlar of Texarkana, Ark.; one sister, Oda May of Longview, Tex.; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was entrusted to Shackelford Funeral Home in Prescott at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, in DeAnn Cemetery in Prescott. E-mail condolences to shackelfordfh@yahoo.com Visitation was 5-8 p.m. Saturday, March 12.
