L.C. ThomasPublished Wednesday, March 16, 2005 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. L.C. Thomas, 92, of Okolona, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, in Murfreesboro Nursing Center in Murfreesboro. He was born November 7, 1912, in Pike County to Cal and Mary Dixon Thomas. He was a pulpwood worker for Charlie Couch of Antoine. He was a member and deacon of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Okolona. He was a loyal and devoted worker. His hobbies were traveling, fishing, playing baseball and hunting. He was a Mason. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara McDaniel and by his second wife, Fletta Meeks Thomas; one brother, Thaddeus Thomas; and one sister, Mattie Ellis. Pa Pa Bailey will be missed by all. His survivors include: one son, Charles Thomas and Doris of Flint, Mich.; five daughters, Charlene Leeper and Frankie, Aline Carthan and Ed, and Maxine Adams and John all of Okolona; Lois Johnson of Brunswick, Georgia; and Edna June Howard and Roy of Beloit, Wis.; raised like a son, Tim Leeper of Okolona; one brother, Dave Thomas and Rosie of Delight; one sister, Bertha Ellis and Smitty of Los Angeles, Calif.; special people, Flossie Dixon, Celestine Mitchell and Audrey Thomas; 25 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends. Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Okolona, with Rev. Rufus Hatley officiating. Burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Okolona. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott. Family received friends Friday, March 11, 2005, from 5-7 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
