BLEVINS 5

Published Wednesday, March 24, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

PRESCOTT 3 The third game of the classic saw the Blevins Hornets post a 5-3 win over Prescott.

This game was for the second place trophy in the event.

Blevins was held scoreless in the first inning, while the Wolves went up 1-0.

Prescott got its run on a missed third strike by the catcher, followed by an RBI single.

Neither team scored until the Hornets tied the game in the third on a walk and yet another error.

The Wolves went up 2-1 in the bottom of the third, when a hit batsman scored on an RBI double.

But, the Hornets have been playing some solid baseball this season and pushed four across in the top of the fourth.

An error and homer accounted for two runs, while two walks and a single brought in the other two.

The Wolves scored their final run in the bottom of the fifth, again with a hit batsman getting on, moving to third on a double and scoring on an error.

In other classic matchups, Blevins hammered Nevada 17-2, while the Devils blasted the Jays 14-3.

Gurdon followed this with an 8-7 win over Blevins for the first place trophy as the Devils were undefeated in classic action.
