PRESCOTT 8

Published Wednesday, March 24, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

NEVADA 7 The Wolves, in game two, rebounded from their loss to Gurdon to beat Nevada 8-7 and post their second win of the year.

The Blue Jays scored in the first and second frames, to go up 2-0 over the Wolves.

Errors, so far this year, have been a problem for the Prescott club.

A single and error led to one Jay run in the first, while a walk and error scored the second run.

In the bottom of the second, Prescott tied the score with a two RBI double.

But, the Jays weren't going down without a fight and pushed three across in the third to go up 5-2. Again, errors led to all three Nevada runs.

The Wolves added a run in the bottom of the inning with a solo shot by Yates.

Prescott's defense held in the top of the fourth, keeping the Jays off the board.

The Wolves exploded for four in the bottom if the inning to take a 7-5 lead.

The fifth saw the Jays tie the game with a pair, again coming by way of an error this time in the outfield.

An RBI single in the bottom of the inning gave the Wolves their margin of victory.

Yates won his first game in three outings. He gave up two hits, walked five and fanned eight.

But, the error-prone defense overshadowed this pitching performance.
