Charles BrownPublished Wednesday, March 9, 2005 in the Nevada County PicayuneCharles Eldon Brown, 72, of Crestview, Fla., passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at his home. He was born on October 11, 1932, to Lawrence Noah and Nettie Tomlin Brown in Dubach, La., raised in Prescott and moved to Crestview nearly 10 years ago from the Republic of Panama. Mr. Brown was a member of The Chapel. He was retired from the US Army as a Drill Sergeant and a Vietnam Veteran. Later he was Commander and Chief of a D.A.V. Chapter 2 in Panama. Mr. Brown was a loving grandfather who was a father figure to his grandchildren and a best friend to each member of his family. A loving companion to his wife of 32 years. Survivors include his wife, Lilia Brown; four sons, Kenneth Brown and wife Debra, Kevin Brown and wife Julie, Harley Keith Brown and Bryan Brown; two daughters, Melinda Kay Brown VinKlarek and husband Glen and Ingrid Brown; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services were at 10:15 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2005, at Barrances National Cemetery with Rev. Chuck Chapman officiating. Burial was in the cemetery. The family received friends Thursday, February 24, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Brackney Funeral Service, Crestview, is in charge of arrangements.
