Ruth WileyPublished Wednesday, February 16, 2005 in the Nevada County PicayuneMrs. Ruth Hershberger Wylie, 92, of Hope, died Wednesday, February 9, 2005, in Medicalodge Progressive and Rehab Center in Texarkana, Ark. She was born July 10, 1912 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Morrow and Hazel Hershberger. She was retired former co-owner of Wylie Glass and Salvage in Hope. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hope, Jett B. Graves Sunday School, Choir Member and former Treasurer of the church; Life member with 50+ years in Girl Scouts and the Friday Music Club; Instrumental in the beginning of the School of Hope and one of the original board members; member of John Cain Chapter of DAR; Eastern Star; Extension Homemakers Club; Volunteer with S.W. District Livestock Association; First Female member of Golden K of Hope; Former Citizen of the Year for Hope in 1998; and avid supporter of the Hope Bands. She was preceded in the by her husband Arch Wylie, who died in 1996; and by two brothers, David and Carl Hershberger. Her survivors include: two sons, Birkett Wylie and Barbara and Dale G. Wylie and Ann, all of Hope; one daughter, Ruth Ann Hairston and James of Hope; six grandchildren, Steve Wylie and Sherry and Stacy Wylie and Jerita all of Hope, Alan Wylie and Deanne of Springfield, Mo., Cindy Wylie of Tulsa, Okla., Angie Gentry and Anthony and Amanda Brown and Wayne, all of Hope; and 11 great-grandchildren, Ben, Cory, Adam, Austin, Taylor, Jordan, Brady, Alex, Wylie, Ramsey, and Garrison. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2005, at First United Methodist Church in Hope. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. Family received friends, Thursday, February 10, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the School of Hope, 500 S.
