Lillian Hickerson

Mrs. Lillian Willis Roberts Hickerson, 93, of Hope, died Sunday, February 6, 2005, in Medical Park Hospital in Hope.

She was born November 3, 1911, in Holly Grove Community of Hempstead County to John F. and Lucindia Jones Willis. She was a bookkeeper for more than 35 years having been with KXAR of Hope more than 17 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hope and of the former Holly Grove Methodist Church in DeAnn. She was a 50+ year member of the Eastern Star; an honorary member of the Hospital Auxiliary; Pres. of Hempstead Co. Singing Convention; member of Henshaw Quartet for 14 years; Hickerson Weaver Quartet for eight years; member with the Good Life Singers for 15 years and a former choir member at First Methodist for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Hickerson; by one son, Richard E. "Sonny" Roberts; by five brothers, John, Albert, Rufus, Monroe, and Leon; and by three sisters, Ella Willis, Ollie Mae Evans, and Frances Chareton.

Her survivors include: one daughter, Betty Lou Gilbert and Charles William of Crossroads Community in Washington, Ark.; five grandchildren, Charles Gilbert II, Washington, Charlene Beebe of Little Rock, Sunny Gail Lee of Mineral Wells, Tex., Robin Ann Roberts and Richard Calvin Roberts both of Calvert, Tex.; four great-grandchildren, Shelly Gilbert of Washington, Ark., Krystal Gilbert and Tara Beebe, both of Fayetteville, and Elvis Edwin Lee of Mineral Wells, Tex.; one daughter-in-law, Gail Roberts of Mineral Springs; one sister, Luvegia Brown of Emmet, special friends, Chloie Tittle and Gladys Hartsfield both of Hope and special neighbors, Paul and Sherry Ward of Hope.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2005, Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope with Rev.'s Charles Hawley and Cy Zumwalt officiating. Burial in Holly Grove Cemetery, Hempstead County. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

Family received friends Monday, February 7, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.
