Chamber seeks Citizen of Year nominations

One of the highlights of each year's Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Banquet is the naming of the Citizen of the Year.

This honor, according to Chamber director Mary Godwin, is bestowed upon the county's most worthy citizens as each has been recognized through the years.

The time has come to nominate county residents for Citizen of the Year.

According to the rules, any resident of Nevada County can submit a nominations, and the nominee must be a Nevada County resident. The nomination and why the person has been nominated must be submitted in writing.

A selection committee will judge the nominations according to the following criteria: outstanding service to  family, city, county, state, national affairs, church, fraternal, recreational and industrial and educational oriented services.

The selection committee will base its decision on the content of the letters of nomination, not the number of letters received nominating someone.

This year's banquet will be held Thursday, March 31, at the McRae Middle School cafetorium. The theme will be, "Our Hometown Heroes".

The deadline for submitting a nomination is Monday, Feb. 28. Nominations must be sent to: Citizen of the Year, c/o Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 307  116 East 2nd, Prescott, Ark. 71857.
