Joseph Patterson

Joseph Read Patterson, 64, of Fulton, went to join his Lord and savior on Jan. 19, 2005, at his home.

He was born Feb. 7, 1940, in Houston, Texas, to JWB and Alma Alston Patterson. He was retired from Reynolds Metal Co. and was an active member of the Fulton Union Baptist Church.

Read was an avid hunter and fisherman, with membership in the NRA, Traditional Archery Club and Treeing Fiest Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Morgan Purifoy.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Andrea Beth Mitchell Patterson of Fulton; three daughters, Lynette Schoonover of Dayton, Texas, Susan Purifoy of Arkadelphia and Margaret Patterson of Gurdon; a step-mother, Alice Patterson of Livingston, Texas; one brother, Colin Patterson of Houston; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Fulton Union Baptist Church with Bro. Kenny Polk officiating.

Burial was under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home.
