Vera Cannon

Vera Mae Cannon, of Covington, Louisiana died at the age of 90 on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Lakeview Regional Memorial Center of congestive heart failure.

She was the wife of the late Paul F. Cannon Sr.

She is the beloved mother of: Thomas Lee Cannon of Marrero, Louisiana; Harlan Brodie Cannon of Covington, Louisiana; Brenda C. Zeiser of Pearl River, Louisiana; Patricia Ann Cannon of New Orleans, Louisiana; Sharon E. Assavedo, of St. Bernard, Louisiana; Vivian Louise Dubuisson of Pearl River, Louisiana and the late Paul F. Cannon Jr.

Vera is the daughter of the late: Rueben Joseph and Ida Pearl Harlan Smith, and the sister of the late Brodie, Reuben and Laura Uban Smith.

She is the sister-in-law of Mavis H. Smith of North Little Rock. Mrs. Cannon is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A native of Wyatt, La., and a resident of Covington, La., for 22 years, she was a retired registered nurse and a homemaker.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend the funeral. Services were held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell, La., at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, with the Rev. Charles Starnes officiating.

Internment was scheduled in the Forest Lawn Mausoleum. Visitation was after noon on Monday until funeral time. Arrangements were by Honaker Funeral Home Inc., Slidell, La.
