Willie Smith, Jr.Published Wednesday, January 5, 2005 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. Willie "Sonny" Smith, Jr. 85, of Little Rock, formerly of Prescott, died Friday, December 31, 2004, in Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born on September 23, 1919, in Little Rock to Willie R. Smith, Sr. and Alma Dixon. He was retired from both Continental Bakery Co. and Executone Communications as a communications engineer with more than 20 years with each. He was a Baptist, La. Tech graduate, and an Army Veteran of World War II in the Pacific War and Hiroshima. He was preceded in death by one brother, James Smith and by one sister, Syble Smith. His survivors include: his wife, Mildred Morris Smith of Little Rock; one son, Mike Smith and Paula of Little Rock; two daughters, Susan Phillips and Gary of Mayflower and Brenda Almond and Dean of Little Rock; three brothers, David Smith, Hubert Smith and Herbert Smith all of Tyler, Texas; one sister, Jean Brister of North Little Rock; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were 1 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2005, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Rev. Coy Zumwalt officiating. Burial followed in Sweet Home Cemetery in Blevins.
