Basil HarperPublished Wednesday, December 22, 2004 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. Basil Lonnie Harper, 76, of Emmet, died Tuesday, December 14, 2004, in Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Tex. He was born on February 28, 1928, in Clendenin, West Virginia to Ott and Sarah Roton Harper. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and Pennzoil Oil Refineries. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by one son, James Basil Harper; one brother, Mark Harper; and by one sister, Lizzie Bell Harper. His survivors include: his wife of 47 years, Treva Short Harper of Emmet; three sons, Gregory Harper of Emmet, Joseph Harper of Perrytown and Randy Harper of Magnolia; four daughters, Pamela Fields of Emmet, Rebecca Randall of Hope, Renee Jones of Magnolia, and Paula Prault of Hope; one brother, Phillip Huffman of Elkview, W.V.; four sisters, Myrtle Armstead of Gassaway, W.V., Wanda Armstead of Ripley, W.V., Gladys Lily of St. Albans, W.V. and Dovie Holbert of Clendenin, W. V.; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Graveside services were 1 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2004, at Pine Creek Memorial Park, Alexander, Ark. with Rev. Craig Adams officiating. Burial followed. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. Family received friends Wednesday, December 14, 2004, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.
