Santa visits primary school; takes orders from 130 kidsBY JOHN NELSONPublished Wednesday, December 22, 2004 in the Gurdon Times "The Real Santa Claus" came to visit the children at Gurdon Primary School on Monday evening, Dec. 13, for the second year in a row and says he likes the children here so much he is going to make an effort to be sure and come back for a personal appearance again next year. "I got invited by the school, and stopped as I was flying by," Santa said. "I'm on my way south to check out other children. The ones here are some of the nicest I have met." Santa said he was getting a lot of Gurdon orders for older toys, but not to worry because the North Pole could find them at Toy Chest, his workshop. "I had one order for a Rapunzel Doll, which caused me to think back a few years," he said. "Then there were orders for Easy Cook ovens, Play Station Twos, motorcycles, 4-wheelers, and much, much more. Ho! Ho! Ho!" Ole St. Nicholas said Mrs. Claus stayed home to work on the lists of good boys and bad boys, and then on the ones of good girls and bad girls. Plus, she is overseeing the elves to be sure they do a good job making toys. Santa Claus said he had nearly 130 boys and girls come to sit on his lap this year at the primary school, as they were asking for this or that child. This is several more than last year, according to the pot-bellied old gentleman. To Gurdon kids that did not get to attend, Santa said, "I will be here next year. If you missed me tonight, I plan on seeing you on Christmas Eve. I want you all to remember, as long as you believe in loving and giving, there is always a St. Nicholas. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!" Santa also sent this message to kids in Gurdon. He said he has been drinking too much milk lately and if some of you could leave a soda, he would appreciate it. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
