Monteen Davis

Monteen Wiley Davis, 81, of Gurdon, died on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at Hospitality Care Center in Arkadelphia.

She was born on March 3, 1923, in Okolona, daughter of the late Atoy and Violet Nixon Wiley.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Cannan Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and choir member. She was a member of the Section 1 A-Division choir of the Southwest District Association.

Survivors include: her husband, Gilbert Davis of Gurdon; son, Frederick Hatley of Gurdon, four sisters, Ola Mae Bailey of Okolona; Veodis Cook of Malvern; Ellen Wiley of Plano, Texas; Clementine Miles of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Toyrece Wiley of Chicago, Ill. and Floyd Wiley of Chicago, Ill.

Funeral service were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at the Mt. Cannan Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Harris officiating. Burial was be in the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Okolona under the direction of the Williams Funeral Home, 1517 Caddo Street in Arkadelphia.

Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13 at the funeral home.
