Truett Bailey

Truett Bailey, 73, of Magnolia, died Friday, November 12, 2004, after a brief illness.

A member of Central Baptist Church in Magnolia, he was born February 8, 1931, in Nevada County.

An avid horseman, he was one of the early pioneers of the Magnolia Riding Club and equestrian activities in the area. He retired after 43 years service with Southern Extrusions, Howmet and then Alumax as Custom Fab Plant superintendent.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ouida Luck Bailey, formerly of the Waterloo community.

He survived by Peggy Bailey, his wife of 52 years; a daughter, Jana Bailey of Magnolia; son, Rick Bailey and wife Deborah of Bartlesville, Okla.; son, Mike Bailey of Mena; four grandchildren, Britney, Cole, and Maggie Bailey, all of Fayetteville, and Truett Blaine Bailey of Mena; two brothers, Welton and Gurvin Bailey, both of Magnolia; three sisters, Hera Morehead and husband Carroll of Prescott, Mary Jett of Lewisville, and Yvonne Murry and husband Marvin of Stephens, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral service was a 2 p.m. Sunday, November 14, in Lewis Chapel with Bro. David Wood and Bro. Steve Ford officiating. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery in Magnolia under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home. Visitation was from 6-9 p.m. Saturday night at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers were Perry Jett, Steve Bailey, Keith Perry, Tony Scott, Ronny Rogers and Clark Cheatham. Honorary pallbearers were John Perry, Buck Cheatham, James Wray, W.B. Sawyer, Sr. and Jim Orton of Little Rock.
