Lillian TerrellPublished Wednesday, November 24, 2004 in the Gurdon TimesMrs. Lillian Hale Terrell, 101, of Prescott, died Thursday, November 18, 2004, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab in Prescott. A resident there since 1998, she considered their staff and clients a second family. She was born on July 19, 1903, in Nevada County, to William David and Dora Bell Covington Hale. She was a retired teacher from Ark. State Teachers College (now U.C.A.). She was a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; by six half sisters, Julia Chappell, Ollie Purtle, Anna Davis, Abie Renfro, Minnie Griffith and Ida Martin; and by three brothers, Homer, Horace, and Ralph Hale. She met her husband while teaching at Old Union School near El Dorado while he was working in the oil fields. Then came WWII. They went to work in Oak Ridge, Tenn., until after the war, at which time they relocated to Los Alamos, New Mexico. After retirement in 77 they returned to Prescott to be near her family. John died in November of that year. Her survivors include: one nephew, Ralph Hale, Jr. of Hidor, Texas; three nieces, Helen Hale Purcell of Benton, Jo Hale DeWoody of Gurdon, Jackie Hale Archer and Bob of El Dorado; and other nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-greats. Graveside services were 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 20, 2004, at DeAnn Cemetery, in Prescott with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland officiating. Burial to follow.
