French Leads Easter SealsPublished Wednesday, March 31, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesJohn French of First State Bank is serving as a VIP for Easter Seals this month. French joins 240 other VIPs from across the state who are helping Easter Seals raise money to support children and adults with disabilities in Arkansas. The Easter Seals campaign for children and adults with disabilities runs through April 13 and will conclude with a celebration party at Easter Seals Outpatient Center in Little Rock from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m on that date. The party will be a fun event for VIPs and their families and will include dinner, tours of Easter Seals new Children's Rehabilitation Center and children's activities including face painting and clowns. Popular radio personality Craig O'Neill will present special awards to top fund- raisers. In conjunction with the annual campaign, Easter Seals will air a national television special, Hollywood Salutes Easter Seals, April 3 on KATV from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. The special will showcase the work of Easter Seals across the country, as well as feature stories about local supporters of Easter Seals. The special will include celebrity appearances by Julia Duffy, Peter Scolari, Tom Poston, Joanna Cassidy, Joan VanArk, Donna Mills, Mackenzie Phillips, Adam West, John Lehr, Taran Noah Smith, Tom Bosley, Raven Simon and James McDaniel. For 55 years, Easter Seals Arkansas has provided the state's most comprehensive services that help children and adults with disabilities live independently. Funds raised through the statewide annual campaign will be used to support Easter Seals services throughout Arkansas, which include occupational, speech and physical therapy, preschool, inpatient rehabilitation for children, after school care and summer camping programs, assistive technology for children and adults, and vocational and residential programs for adults.
