Dallas Westmoreland

Dallas Chapman Westmoreland passed away on Thursday, November 4, in Houston, Texas at the age of 89 years and 363 days.

Dallas was born in the Westmoreland community of rural Prescott, 11 miles down Cale road. He was the fifth child of seven of Forrest and Ela Westmoreland. After Ela's death and Forrest's later marriage of Drue Tunnell, there were four more children born to this family.

Dallas was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Bert Lyndon, and one daughter, Sharon Lynell McCarty.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marion Elaine, and their children, son, Dallas, Jr. and wife Beverly, daughters, Ela Hughes and Bill, Joan Townsend, Jean Wendell and Jay; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Perry Westmoreland of Livingston, Texas, and three sisters, Retha Chastain of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Margaret McKinley of Spring, Texas, and Merle Sandord of Prescott.

Dallas moved to Houston in 1928 and retired from Houston Oilfield Material Company after 43 years. He was a 52 year resident of the Heights in Houston.

Visitation was Saturday, November 6 (on his 90th birthday) at Heights Funeral Home and graveside services were held on Sunday, November 7 at Brookside Memorial Park in Houston with Dr. Daniel Hannon officiating.
