Ruth Jones

Mrs. Ruth Cox Jones, 92, of Emmet, died Monday, October 25, 2004, in Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born April 6, 1912, in Hempstead County, to Jack and Lucy E. Schooley Cox.

She was a homemaker and former postal clerk. She was a lifelong member of Emmet United Methodist Church, member of the United Methodist Women and Organist for more than 20 years. She was active in her community work and the extension homemakers group.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby Lee Jones, who died in 1993; by one son, Dale Jones, who died in 1998; and by one daughter, June Osborn, who died in 2002.

Her survivors include: one daughter, Suzanne Davidson of Emmet; one brother, Jack Cox, Jr. of Emmet; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2004, at Emmet United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland and Rev. J. R. Pete Callicott officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

Family received friends Friday, October 29, 2004, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home.
