Dail Evans

Dail O. Evans, 84, of Willisvile, died Thursday, October 14, 2004, at his residence.

He was born December 7, 1919, in Bodcaw to Loyal and Harlie Evans.

Mr. Evans was a great dad, a Veteran of World War II, a faithful member and deacon of Whites Chapel Baptist Church. He was retired from Berry Asphalt Company in Waterloo, and from Columbia County Highway Department. He worked on a job until he was 67 years old, after that he worked for mother.

Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his dear wife of 64 years, Marjorie Evans, who died March 3, 2004; a sister, Nell Crider; a brother, Loyal Evans, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Dayle Evans.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Dot Evans of Hope; two daughters, Judy Burns of Stamps and Jana Gibson and husband, Wayne of Willisville; brother, Alvin "Buddy" Evans and wife, Mary of Houston, Texas; sister, Jean Coburn of Pine Bluff; five grandchildren, Diane Evans, Rusty May, Rodney May, Keri Russo and Misty Gibson; four great-grandchildren, Justin May, Chelsey May, Andrue Russo and Hallie Kate May; and a host of friends.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 2004, at The Whites Chapel Baptist Church at Bodcaw with Bro. Daniel Williams and Bro. Wayne Langston officiating with burial in Union Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home Stamps.

Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.
