This puts the Go-Devils 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference. It also assures Gurdon will be in the playoffs. The word for the evening was intensity. Gurdon was moving the ball offensively, as they knew this was a do or die win. Mineral Springs scored first, after just a few minutes of play in the first quarter. The extra point was good, making it 7-0 Hornets with 5:05 left in the first. Then it was first and 10 Gurdon with 3:58 left in the first quarter when Jamelle Lacy gained 15 yards. Then it was Gurdon's first touchdown from Jamelle Lacy, making it 7-6 Hornets. But the speed and drive of the Go-Devils let everyone know they were in the game. The announcer commented this was the best the Go-Devils offense has looked since Junction City. The two-point conversion was no good. Jamelle Lacy had 87 yards when the first quarter ended, 7-6. Then it was the Hornets again. They scored a touchdown and an extra point, going 14-6 over the Go-Devils before the half. That 14-6 score held at the half. Coming back strong, Gurdon scored a touchdown three plays into the third quarter. Jamelle Lacy got that touchdown on a 31-yard run, closing the gap in the score to 14-12 Hornets. This gave Jamelle Lacy 169 yards. Things clicked on for a few minutes and then Jamelle Lacy made yet another touchdown with 3:51 left in the third, giving the Go-Devils an 18-14 lead. This touchdown was after a pass from Daniel Francis to Jamelle Lacy. That finished the scoring for the third quarter. With 11:17 left in the fourth quarter, fire and intensity came upon the Go-Devils. Jonathan Lacy made a long run, leaving six yards to glory. Lonnie Lacy ran to the far side of the field and touchdown. This put the score at 24-14 Go-Devils with nine minutes left in the game. After that, Mineral Springs gave all it had to recover. Go-Devil Robert Plyler had an intense sack and Gurdon's defense rolled on. Then with 1:46 to go, the Hornets scored a touchdown, making it 24-20. Mineral Springs went for the two-point conversion but it failed. Finally, the clock ran out after Jamelle Lacy got a first down and Gurdon escaped with a victory.
