John's JourneyBY JOHN NELSONPublished Wednesday, October 20, 2004 in the Gurdon Times It would appear that my home on the highway is starting to take shape and my camera problem may be on the way to being solved as well. Thanks to the Clark County 9-1-1 coordinator Charles Bullard (known as Coronel from his rank in the service), I know have a second bed and some other things that he did not need. The people of Gurdon are being super nice to me and I am grateful. Bullard also had a Pevi 35 mm camera that looks like what I want for football. The only thing now is to come up with a flash and I am in business. As to the house, now I just need someone to share it with. I have a couple of prospects. And, I am trying to sell my wife's old Lincoln Mark VI. The old car only has 40,000 actual miles. It was an estate car from an older couple that died in Malvern. Let me know if you could use a reliable ride. So let's see, I am fixing up a home, needing a room mate, trying to sell a car, taking care of a cat that appears to be a male orange tiger (now called Winfred), and on yes, being everywhere at one time to be cover the city of Gurdon as your editor. Homecoming will keep me busy in the newsroom for a few more days, as I understand it is this Friday, Oct. 22. Then there is the Forest Festival coming up. I intend to make it over to the Hoo Hoo Museum and snoop out a feature if possible as well. I have been receiving compliments from several of the older readers that the Gurdon Times is full of local news. I certainly intend to keep it even more so. As I start over in this town, from a past that was mostly good, I am enjoying learning more and more about what makes Gurdon tick. With the Halloween season coming up, I am going to get brave one of these nights and go see for myself about this Gurdon Light. Well, we have several new columnists starting so I will close. Thank you to the half of a dozen or so of you that stopped me on the street and praised this slice of life column. You are my new hometown and so this is sort of like writing a letter to home. This is John, still on his Journey. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
