Festival pageant sets rehearsalsBY JOHN NELSONPublished Wednesday, September 22, 2004 in the Gurdon Times The Forest Festival Pageant rehearsal times have been set up for the day of the pageant, Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Gurdon High School cafetorium. Billy Wells, pageant organizer, said rehearsals for the Tiny Miss will be from 9-9:30 a.m. that day; 9:30-10 a.m. for Little Miss; 10-10:30 a.m., Junior Miss; 10:30-11:15 a.m., Princess; and 11:15 a.m. until noon, the queen. Wells said interviews for the Princess and Queen will take place at 3 p.m. in the Hoo Hoo Building on Main Street. Those wanting tickets for the pageant can get them from Billy Wells, at Billy's Main Street Florist, for $5 before the night of the pageant. The pageant itself will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25, in the high school cafetorium. The pageant, an annual event for nearly 15 years, according to Wells, is for Clark County girls between 3-18. The master of ceremonies said last year's pageant had approximately 35 contestants. The ladies are judged in regard to their beauty on stage. Wells said there are three judges, always from out of town. The winners from the pageant will appear in automobiles during the Forest Festival parade, traditionally at 9 a.m. This year's festival is to be on Saturday, Oct. 30.
