HSU Sets QB/Receiver CampPublished Wednesday, March 31, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesHenderson State University will host the nationally known All-American Quarterback/Receiver Camp (QB/R) June 12-15. Players from high schools, middle schools and junior high schools are eligible to attend. This marks the 15th year the country's premier football camp will be at the Arkadelphia campus. Other sessions this year are held in California, Michigan and New Jersey. Founded in 1964, the camp is noted for turning out outstanding quarterbacks, receivers and running backs. Dr. Will Hayes, president of QB/R and former dean at the University of California, said, "Last year more than 300 QB/R graduates earned All-State and All-Conference honors. On Parade Magazine's recent list of the nine outstanding high school quarterbacks in the U.S., four were from QB/R." Graduates of QB/R have played at Big 12 and WAC universities as well as at football powers Notre Dame, Nebraska, Penn State and Miami. The all-inclusive fee is $350. This covers all meals, housing in the college dormitories, instruction, insurance and camp shirt.
