Cecil SteedPublished Wednesday, September 1, 2004 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. Cecil James "Pete" Steed, 71, Prescott, died Friday, August 27, 2004, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab Center in Prescott. He was born June 30, 1933, in Emmet, to Rufus James and Hazel Wingfield Steed. He was a member of Missionary Grove Baptist Church of Nubbin Hill Community in Prescott. He was preceded in death by his parents. His survivors include: his wife of 48 = years, Lorene Hunt Steed of Prescott; one son, Randy James Steed of Prescott; two daughters, Brenda Oliver of Brandon, Fla. and Kay Purtle of Prescott; two brothers, Delbert Steed of Prescott and Billy Don Steed of Okla.; one sister, Bobbie Dennis of Camden; seven grandchildren, Christie Bickerstaff, Shane Hill, Jason Oliver, Valerie Purtle, Candice Oliver, Chelsey Oliver and Cody Steed; three great-grandchildren, Austin Bickerstaff, Holliegh Bickerstaff, and Layla Purtle. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2004, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel, Prescott, with Rev. Neal Ridling and Mr. Mike Steed officiating. Burial followed in Caney Cemetery in Caney Community of Nevada County. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
