Nellie Wise

Mrs. Nellie "Doot" Warren Wise, 75, of Emmet, passed away Monday, August 23, 2004, at her home.

Sister Nellie Wise, affectionately known as "Doot" by some family members and friends, was born November 28, 1928, to the proud parents, the late Jyner Warren and Estella Johnson Warren.

Nellie was the fifth child of a union of nine children. Four brothers preceded her in death. Sister Nellie Wise confessed Christ at an early age, and was a member of the St. Thomas Baptist Church. She served in the missionary society and various church activities. She was a member of the order of Eastern Stars E.U. Reed Chapter 216 of Prescott, a faithful member, until her health failed.

On December 24, 1946, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Judge Wise and to this union five children were born, two daughters preceded her in death. Nellie was a loving wife, mother and homemaker, a very concerned parent, and cared for her children, and helped in decision-making, a good advisor fo her children. Family and friends loved her very much, whenever, you visited her home, you were always welcome to eating good wholesome home cooked meals. Well known for her seasoned vegetables and delicious cakes and pies. She will truly be missed by those who knew her and loved her.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband of 58 years, Judge Wise of Emmet; two sons, Homer L. Wise (Beatrice) of Richmond, Calif. and Ruben W. Wise (Clara) of Euless, Texas; one daughter, Stella M. Scoggins (Charlie) of Hope; one step-son, Willie L. Wise (Shree) of Los Angeles, Calif.; one favorite godson, Earnest Monk (Arlene) of Blevins; two sisters, Ruby McDaniel of Kansas City, Mo. and Freddie Pearl Hubbard (Fredrick) of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Homer Warren of Kansas City, Mo. and Jessie Warren of Blevins; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2004, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. D.R. Gulley officiating. Burial was in Elizabeth Cemetery in Hempstead County. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

Family received friends Saturday, August 28, 2004, from 6-7 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish for quiet hour.
