Mary McElfreshPublished Wednesday, August 25, 2004 in the Nevada County PicayuneMrs. Mary L. Gourley McElfresh, 87, of Jeanerette, La., and formerly of Franklin, La., died Saturday, August 21, 2004, in Iberia Medical Center in Louisiana. She was born September 11, 1916, in Forsyth County, Ga., to James Jefferson and Sular Abigail Crabb Gourley. She was a housewife. Longtime resident of Franklin since 1963. Resident of Maison Teche for the past 12 years in Jeanerette. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, George D. "Dave" McElfresh and by four brothers and one sister, and by one son, Norris R. McElfresh. Survivors include: two sons, Wallace D. McElfresh of Charenton, La. and George C. McElfresh of Lubbock, Texas; one daughter, Jackie Lyn McElfresh of Slaton, Texas; and one granddaughter, Amanda McElfresh. Graveside services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2004, at Laneburg Cemetery, in Laneburg, with Rev. Louie Wesson officiating. Burial followed. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott. Memorials may be made to Maison Teche Nursing Center, attn: Gwen Charles, Patient Activity Fund, Hwy. 182, Jeanerette, La.A 70544.
