Elizabeth StratmanPublished Wednesday, August 25, 2004 in the Nevada County PicayuneMrs. Elizabeth Garland Stratman, 89, of Carrollton, Texas, died Sunday, August 8, 2004, at the Brookhaven Nursing Center in Carrollton. Mrs. Stratman was born August 24, 1914, in Emmet, to John McSwain and Elizabeth Christopher Garland. She attended what were then Magnolia A&M and Arkansas Teachers College. She was a homemaker. She was a Presbyterian and served in many positions in her church wherever she lived. She was also a member of DAR and served two terms as regent of the Joseph Habersham Chapter of the DAR in Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, George Stratman, her son John, and her sisters, Max Hairston and Jane McCoy. Survivors include two nieces and their husbands, Jane and Ali Rahmani of Carrollton, and Anne and John Kirkpatrick of Arlington, Va.; two nephews and their wives, Eddie and Sue McCoy of Hot Springs, and Max and Nancy McCoy of Orlando, Fla., and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
