Gurdon's Chamber of Commerce will be holding its annual auction Tuesday, Aug. 24, at the Gurdon High School cafetorium.

There will be both a silent and live auction at the event, with Bob Goodman acting as auctioneer. Viewing of the items will begin at 6 p.m., with dinner scheduled for 6:30 and followed by the live auction at 8 o'clock.

Tickets to the dinner are $7.50 each, with proceeds being shared between the Gurdon school auditorium project and the Chamber's upcoming projects.

A portion of the Chamber's part of the funds will be used to purchase a message board for the community to help keep residents informed of what's going on in Gurdon.

Last year's proceeds were $8,500 from the auction.

Some of the items to be auctioned off include: jewelry, gift certificates, sports memorabilia, Coca Cola items, John Deere items, a condo weekend, a framed antique duck caller, lunch for 12 at the Henderson House, a "Sweet 16" party at Henderson House, a girl's playhouse, an Arkansas Traveler party for 20, and handmade quilts.

Tickets can be purchased from any committee member, at First State Bank, US Bank, Cabe office, the Arkadelphia Chamber of Commerce and at the GHS cafetorium.

Committee members are: Doris Wright, Mary Smith, Linda Bittle, Michelle Anderson, Michelle Babineaux, Kellie Clark and Julie Smithson.
