Marie Gunter

Mrs. Helen Marie Gunter, 85, of Hope, died Sunday, August 1, 2004, at Baptist Medical Center, in Little Rock.

She was born October 26, 1918, in Atlanta, Texas, to Charles H. and Eula Belle Rhodes Long.

She was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hope for more than 40 years, a former Nursery Teacher and also a member of W.M.U. at the church. She was a member of the Hope Garden Club.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Long and by one sister, Ruby Wainscott.

Her survivors include: her husband of more than 63 years, Houston Gunter of Hope; two sons, Judge Jim Gunter and Judee of Hope and Mark Gunter of Hope; two daughters, Janet Gibson and Kirk of Dade City, Fla. and Elaine Warrington and Dick of Hot Springs Village; one sister, Ruth Mayrath of McKinney, Texas; six grandchildren, Christie Adams of Texarkana, Texas, Dr. Craig Gunter of Tyler, Texas, Tim Gibson of Riverview, Fla., Wendi Zebell of Thompson Station, Tenn., Lee Warrington of Atlanta, Ga. and Eric Warrington of Hot Springs; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Hope with Rev. Earl Cumbie officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh-Lamartine Cemetery Columbia County. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

Family received friends Wednesday, August 4, 2004, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest.

Memorials may be made to a local charity of your choice.
