Gurdon man charged with rape of 12-year-old girl in 2002BY WENDY LEDBETTERPublished Wednesday, July 28, 2004 in the Gurdon Times A Gurdon man has been charged in the rape of a girl who was 12 at the time of the incident. According to a bench warrant issued on July 19, Roberto Aguilar, of Gurdon, listed as a Hispanic male with no age or street address given, was charged with a single count of rape on July 19. The incident reportedly occurred sometime before May 31, 2002, at a residence in Gurdon. The girl was examined by physicians at Arkansas Childrens Hospital on Sept. 24, 2002, and the results indicate that "sexual abuse is suspected," according to court records on file. Rape is a Class Y felony, punishable by a prison term of 10 to 40 years or life. In an unrelated case, Jeffery Nicholas Greenhalgh, 17, 7446 Highway 51 South, Okolona, has been charged with burglary for allegedly breaking into a house on Cherry Street in Arkadelphia. According to the court records, the owner of the Cherry Street residence returned home on June 11 at about 4 p.m. to find a bedroom window broken, blood on the bed, window blinds and bloody toilet tissue scattered through the house. The person who entered the house apparently used two chairs leaned against the outside of the house to gain entry. Fingerprints and blood samples were gathered at the scene, according to the records. Among the items reported missing were jewelry, $100 in change, a safe, medication, an adult video, hand-rolled cigars and a bottle of vodka. According to the court records, Greenhalgh was already under investigation for other break-ins in the area, and had been arrested in Clinton for breaking into a vehicle. Burglary is a Class B felony, punishable by five to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000. The Clark County Sheriff's Office reports on file for the previous week include: * Carey E. Rowland, 49, 2976 Highway 79, Camden, arrested July 18 on Highway 53 South for driving while intoxicated. * A report of theft on July 19 at a residence on Highway 67 South. * A report of second-degree criminal mischief on Callaway Road on July 20. * A report on Hays Road, Okolona, on July 21 regarding nuisance animals.
