Glendon Vines

Glendol Ray Vines, 67, peacefully passed from earth to heaven on July 16, 2004, at the home surrounded by family and friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 19, 2004, 2 p.m. at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas, with the Rev. Jimmy Van Dorn, and the Rev. David Pursley officiating. Burial followed in the Cooke Memorial Cemetery Liberty. Visitation was Sunday, July 18, 2004, from 5-8 p.m. at Allison Funeral Service.

Ray was born October 2, 1936, to Paris Wilson and Helen Faye Blankenship Vines, in Bodcaw.

He lived in Hull, Texas, for 47 years, where he worked as a welder and heavy equipment operator for Roeling Equipment; he served in a management position until the company closed in 1986. He loved his family and spent time outdoors mostly fishing and hunting. He was Baptist by faith and lived life believing in hard work and dedication to his God, his neighbors and his family.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Peggy Jean Moon Vines, three children, Debbie and Marvin Taylor of Daisetta, Bobby and Glenda Vines of Hull, Rhonda George and her fianci Steven Devillier of Daisetta, four grandchildren, Marvin and Christina Taylor, Amber Taylor, Bobby Vines and fianci Holly McClellan, and Angela George all from the Hull-Daisetta area. He has two step-grandchildren, Kelly and Josh Young; two great-grandchildren, Shawn and Cori Taylor; three step great-grandchildren, Quince and Kane Bott, and Caleb Downs; three brothers, Wilson and Ellen Vines of Buckner, Harold and Sharon Vines of Arkadelphia, and Bo Jack and Shirley Vines of Bodcaw; a sister, Margie and Jim Schafterling of White Wright, Texas; he is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
