Willene BlasePublished Wednesday, July 14, 2004 in the Gurdon TimesWillene "Billie" Measeles Blase, 78, died June 12, 2004, in Eugene, Ore. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Albert Blase Sr.; two sons and their wives, Albert and Jody Blase and Bob and Karen Blase; two grandsons, Steven and Tom; and one brother, Arnold Measeles of Aptos, Calif. She was born near Whelen Springs to the late Gertrude and Charlie Measeles. She attended school in Whelen Springs and high school in Gurdon. She was in the class of 1943. Burial was in Eugene. A memorial mass was held at St. Jerome Catholic Church in El Cerrito, Calif., where she was an active member for many years. She was an executive secretary for Chevron Oil Corporation for 15 years in Richmond, Calif. She leaves behind a loving family and will be remembered fondly by many for her cooking and sewing skills, and was a devoted grandmother.
