June wet with 8.75 inches of rainBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, July 7, 2004 in the Nevada County Picayune While it may not have been the wettest June ever, it certainly seemed that way. According to local weather watcher Phillip McAdams, it only rained 16 of the 30 days, with a total of 8.75 inches of rain falling during the month. There were only two occasions with consecutive rainless days. McAdams said June 3-5 were dry, as were the 10-14. Cale meteorologist Davis Benton said the south part of the county received 10.34 inches. This is about twice the norm for June. Overall, Benton said, the area has received 32.55 inches of rain, bringing the total to around seven inches above normal six months into the year. The highest temperature of the month, Benton said, was 92 degrees, while the lowest was 67 in Cale. McAdams said the mercury climbed to 91 degrees in Prescott on June 18, while it dipped to 64 on June 3-6. The average daily high was 83, according to McAdams, while the average daily low temperature was 68 degrees. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
