Lions Club Has Good Year

Published Wednesday, March 31, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune

The Prescott Lions Club had a very busy 1998. During the year they raised and donated over $10,000 for community projects and helping those in need of assistance.

Included in last year's donations were eye glasses and exams for a number of Nevada County citizens.

The Nevada County weather center received funds to purchase an early severe weather warning computer. Scholarships were awarded and the Rescue Unit received a donation for a boat, motor and trailer. Youth sports and band camp also received donations.

From Boy Scouts to beautification projects, from Henry's lights to filling Christmas baskets with food, clothes and toys for needy families in the area, the Prescott Lions Club was willing to help.

Already this year the local Lions have purchased more eye glasses. It has helped the Caddo area Boy Scout Council, the Presbyterian Day Care Center and a family who lost a lot of their belongings recently in a fire.

The Lions were taken on a tour of the Prescott Schools recently by Ron Wright, superintendent of the Prescott School District.

The Prescott Lions Club meets the first and third Thursday nights of each month at 6:30 in the community building at Prescott Housing Authority.
