George Orsburn

OKOLONA  George Carl Orsburn, 94, a lifelong resident of Okolona died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Twin Rivers Rehabilitation Center in

Arkadelphia.

He was born Sept. 20, 1909, in Okolona the son of the late Lee and Kate Bonner Orsburn. He was the third of four children, being preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Cecil Orsburn both of Okolona and one sister, Beryl Meeks of Arkadelphia. He was formerly employed with the Arkansas State Highway Department, a timber and cattle rancher, and owned and operated Orsburn9s Grocery along with his wife, Jewell, for many years.

He was a graduate of Okolona High School, a member of the Okolona United Methodist Church, active in the Okolona School Board, and a former member of Okolona Masonic Lodge. His community spirit, pride and passion for Clark County were always an integral part of his life.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Jewell White Orsburn; three daughters, Brenda and her husband, Bob Biehunko of Arkadelphia; George Ann and her husband, Roy Gene Britt of Okolona; Sarabeth and her husband, Mack Hays of Arkadelphia; eight grandchildren, Tracy Biehunko, Bryan Biehunko, Matt Biehunko, Stephanie Harper, Clay Britt, Molly Pruss, Jim Ed Hays, Julie Hays; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2004, at the Okolona Cemetery with Rev. Bob Trieschmann officiating.

Memorials may be made to the church of your choice or the Okolona Cemetery Fund, c/o Steven Orsburn, 9660, Hwy. 51 So., Okolona, Ark. 71962.

Visitation was from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
