Travis Hardaway

Travis Wayne Jack' Hardaway, 70, of Hope died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at his home.

Mr. Hardaway was born November 22, 1933, in Izard Co., to Frank E. and Earnie Zelma McCarther Hardaway.

He was a retired school teacher, coach and superintendent having been in the Winthrop, Willisville, Huttig, Spring Hill, Bodcaw, Kingsland, Gilliam and Chidester School District; Masters from Henderson State University, member of their Alumni Association, and of Arkansas Retired Teachers Association, a Navy Veteran of the Korean War and served in the Arkansas Army National Guard, 39th Battalion and was a former employee of Hope Migrant Center. He was a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Gwen Hall.

Survivors include one son, Gregory Wayne Hardaway of Hope; one daughter, Kelly D. McBride and Roger of Hope; three brothers, Lowell E. Hardaway of Arkadelphia, C. Fred Hardaway of Greenbriar and Russell Hardaway of Post Falls, Idaho; two sisters, Winnie Hare of Benton and Betty L. Rittenberry of Dallas, Texas; companion and friend, Judy Griffin of Hope; and two grandchildren, Jarrod W. McBride and Mica' M. McBride of Hope.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 2, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keenan Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.
