Travis Mitchell

William Travis Mitchell, 80, of Stamps, died Thursday, April 8, 2004, at his home.

Mr. Mitchell was born April 1, 1924, in Fouke.

He was retired from Cottons Bakery, a member of First Baptist Church and a World War II veteran.

He was preceded in death by one wife, Nellie Henderson Mitchell; one son, Thomas Martin; and two granddaughters, Janice Landes and Melissa Martin.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Mitchell of Stamps; three sons, James Mitchell of Paris, Tex., Travis R. Mitchell of Lewisville, and Johnny Mitchell of Murfreesboro; two daughters, Cassandra Fowler of Plano, Tex., and Missi Smith of Stamps; three brothers, the Rev. Marvin Mitchell of Texarkana, Boyce Mitchell of Stamps and J.C. Mitchell of Fouke; one sister, Juanita Nesbit of Little Rock; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were 2 p.m. Saturday in Concord Cemetery, Fouke, with the Rev. Mike Turner officiating. Burial was under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
