R.S. Hawkins

R.S. "Buddy" Hawkins, 79, of Hot Springs, died Wednesday, March 31, in a nursing home.

He was born July 26, 1924, to the late Eva and Harvey S. Hawkins.

He was an electrician and retired from the Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church and the founder of the Hawkins Family gospel singers and of Hickory Hill Park.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Imogene Reed Hawkins and one sister Trudy Fallon.

Survivors include his daughters Lou Tabor and husband Morris of Hot Springs, Norma McKinnon and husband Joe of Hot Springs, and Ethel Edds and husband Joe of Little Rock; two granddaughters Angel Turoski and Tammye Michau; two step granddaughters Deshawna Latch and Carla Janes; four great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday, April 2 from 6-8 p.m. at the Hot Springs Funeral Home. Services were Sunday, April 4, at the First Pentecostal Church with Rev. B.F. Glidewell officiating.

Pallbearers were: Paul Fallon, Jr., Joe Edds, Jr., Lewis May, Fred Glidewell, Gerald Glidewell and bob Allbritton.

Honorary Pallbears were: Maintenance Department at Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center, Dan Henderson, Rick Goshen, Teddy Frye, George Meyers, Wilbert Bates, E.C. Latch, Ryan Turoski and Shawn Janes.

Burial was at Mountain Valley Cemetery.
