Curbside pickup April 12-16 in town

It's time, once again, for the Spring household curbside pickup on Gurdon.

The curbside pickup will run April 12-16, with the Gurdon Street Department picking up household items at the curb of homes.

Items need to be placed by the curb, then call City Hall at 353-2514 for service. No calls will be accepted after 1 p.m. Friday, April 16. Residents outside the Gurdon city limits are welcome to bring their items to the collection point on Joslyn Street during business hours only.

The city is asking residents to have their items ready and by the curb before calling for the pickup, as there will be only one pickup per household. If time doesn't allow, items will be collected the following week.

City crews will pick up appliances, furniture, old building materials and household junk. They will not pick up any garbage, bagged items or canned foods, and there is no exceptions for this.

But, crews will pick up limbs if they have been cut in four-foot lengths. However, the city is asking residents to put limbs and brush in a separate pile from other household items. And, the city will not pick up limbs or brush cut by commercial haulers.

The curbside pickup will help residents get rid of items not normally picked up by the city's weekly garbage collection contractor.

For more information, or questions, call City Hall at 353-2514.
