Lewis Chappelle, Jr.Published Wednesday, March 31, 2004 in the Gurdon TimesMr. Lewis C. Chappelle, Jr., a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, died Monday, March 15, 2004, at his residence. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in Business Administration. He owned numerous businesses, taught at Century 21 college and was vice president of Thompson Testing and Engineering. Mr. Chappelle was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Rutherford Chappelle, of Mobile; his son, Lewis C. Chappelle III of Atlanta, Ga.; and his father, Lewis C. Chappelle, Sr. of Mobile; five grandchildren, Lewis Calvin Chappelle IV of Knoxville, Tenn., William Harvey Chappelle of Satsuma, Katherine Jean Chappelle, Karin Bellingrath Chappelle and Albert Chappelle, all of Atlanta; five brothers, Jim Chappelle of Tibbie, Ala., Pete Chappelle of Chickasaw, Tommy Chappelle of Mobile, and Mike Chappelle and Rodney Chappelle of Gulf Shores, Ala. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Radney Funeral Home. Services were held in the Radney Funeral Home Chapel Thursday, March 18, at 11 a.m. Graveside services and burial were at Center Ridge Cemetery, Gurdon, Saturday, March 20, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 900 Western America Circle, Mobile, Ala 36609.
