Paul HayesPublished Wednesday, March 31, 2004 in the Gurdon TimesPaul Douglas Hayes, 75, of Ashville, N.C., formerly of Whelen Springs, died March 9, 2004,in Ashville. Paul was born Sept. 12, 1928, in Whelen Springs. He was retired from the Air Force and a member of New Bridge Baptist Church, Ashville. He is survived by two sisters, Glendene Norman of El Dorado and Helen Spriggs of Texarkana, Tex.; three nephews, Gary Norman of Fayetteville, Ga., Terry Norman of El Dorado and Mike Spriggs of Wake Village, Tex.; two nieces, Katy Dugan of Red Lick, Tex., and Sandra Kennedy of Texarkana. He was the son of the late Wallace and Mable Hayes and grandson of Josie and Walter Harper. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Hayes, in 2002.
