Carl West

Carl A. West, 91, of Willisville, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, in the his home.

He was born August 22, 1912, in Willisville, to the late George and Elsie West.

He was a retired employee of Berry Petroleum Company. He was a lifetime member of Willisville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed camping with family and friends and was an avid sports fan. Until recently he stayed very active and enjoyed riding his bicycle.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Flora Mae West; seven brothers; grandson, Jay West and a daughter-in-law, Shirley West.

Survivors are two sons, Carl Max West and wife, Dovie of Magnolia, and Bert West and wife, Diana of Marshall, Tex.; one daughter, Peggie Homishak and husband Herman of Hot Springs; one brother, George A. West of El Paso, Tex.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law Vergil Jackson and wife, Emma of Willisville; a host of Willisville friends that always supported each other with food and phone calls.

Funeral services were Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at 10 a.m. at Willisville United Methodist Church. Bro. Jerry Evans officiated, assisted by Bro. Gordon Rodgers and Bro. Sanford Hankins. Burial was in Willisville Cemetery. Visitation was Monday, March 15, at Lewis Funeral Home in Magnolia from 6-8 p.m.

Pallbearers were Bert West, Brody West, Jerry Homishak, Herman Homishak, Gary Pyle, Gary Fuller, Greg Leuschner, Stephen Hilborn, Kent Reeves, and Mark Gray.
