Smithpeters expands services

In March of 2002, Smithpeters and Associates merged with Knox Nelson Oil Company to create Smithpeters Oil Company.

Don and Wanda Smithpeters had owned and operated a facility for several years, that provide much of Clark County and the surrounding areas with oils, lubricants and fuel. However, with the merger it allowed them to do much more and provide services in a larger radius.

Since that time, Smithpeters Oil Company, a division of Knox Nelson, has done just what it said it would do, "Be your value-added supplier of quality lubricants and fuels."

The company sell oils and lubricants to commercial industries such as International Paper Co., Potlatch, Scroll Technologies, Siplast and several other industries in Southwest Arkansas.

It also provides fuel, oil and lubricants for farmers, loggers and others in the area.

"Chris (Smithpeters) does all of our fuel deliveries in Southwest Arkansas and Jimmy (Hughes) and I do all of the Industrial deliveries of the oils and things.

"Paige (Reece), well she takes care of all of us," said Don.

Smithpeters latest addition to the company is the 24-Hour unattended pay-at-the-pump gas service.

"We are carrying three grades of gas, off-road and highway diesel.

"We offer surveillance cameras to insure peoples safety and we hope the service is convenient for the town," said Don.

The new pumps are located directly in front of the oil company at 410 South Front Street in Gurdon. It is Citgo gas and you can pay with a debit, credit, any of the Citgo retail cards and a Citgo Cash Card will be available at the pumps. The Cash Card is for customers who like to pay with cash. Customes can put their money into a machine and purchase the amount desired on their card. Then it can be used until the cash amount is gone.

"It's kind of like one of these phone cards you buy," Smithpeters said.

When using a Cash Card it automatically takes three cents off of the price per gallon.

When asked why they decided to add the pumps Smithpeters said, "As with any business, you are always trying to offer something better for your customers. You know something they aren't getting anywhere else. We thought we would offer convenience since the pumps are open 24-hours a day, they are quick and convenient. Our prices are competitive and that should make the customer happy also. We are glad to be offering Citgo gas also, so people don't have to worry about not getting good quality. They are getting Citgo branded fuel and that is good quality," said Smithpeters.
