Get ready for Magical Moments in Time, the theme for this year's Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Banquet.

The banquet is scheduled for 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 6, at the McRae Middle School cafetorium. Chamber Director Mary Godwin said this year's banquet will have a 1950s theme and no featured speaker.

Instead of a speaker, she said, the banquet will focus on music and dance performed by Encore, the Southern Arkansas University dance troupe. The troupe is under the direction of Judy Vasser.

The benefit auction will kick the banquet off. Patrons will have the opportunity to purchase various items donated by local and area merchants. The money from the auction and banquet is used to fund the other Chamber activities throughout the year.

Joe Graham, local attorney, will be the master of ceremonies for the event. He will preside over the presenting of different awards. The awards, again this year, include the Past President Award, honoring the Nevada County Farm Family of the Year (which is done by the Bank of Prescott), the Business Leadership Award, the Treasure of Gold Award, the Educators of the Year (from the three school districts in the county), Students of the Year (this award was created by former Miss Arkansas Jessie Ward and will be presented to students in the county's school districts) and will culminate with the Citizen of the Year Award.

Godwin said the dress will be casual again this year, but the menu hasn't been finalized as yet.

The banquet committee working on this project is made up of: Jon Chadwell, Carol Newton, Godwin, Graham, Brad Crain, Barbara Lowdermilk, Booie Williams, Lanora Dalrymple, Karen Jobe, Karen McLelland, Elaine Williams, Paula Cossey, Julie Stockton, Michael Jimmerson and Brandi Karlovec.

Tickets will be $15 each and can be purchased at the Chamber, from any member of the Chamber board, or the banquet committee. Godwin asks people to reserve their tickets early so the Chamber can get an accurate count for the meal.
