Filing fees setBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, March 3, 2004 in the Nevada County Picayune Political season is upon us, with the filing period to run for two weeks in March. The filing period will open at noon on March 16, and close at noon on March 30. There has been no change in the cost of filing for local and area political offices. According to Davis Benton, chairman of the Nevada County Election Commission, the filing fee for county judge and sheriff is $750. Those filing for county offices, such as county clerk, tax assessor, and circuit clerk will be paying $600. Candidates for the quorum court and city alderman in Prescott will be spending $75 to run for office, while anyone seeking the office of county coroner will pay $50 in filing fees. Benton said there is no charge for filing to run for constable. All filing will be done at the Nevada County Courthouse during regular business hours, he said. With the exception of Prescott mayor, all other offices are up for election. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
