Ray Cox

Ray Dotson Cox, of Prescott, died Wednesday, February 18, 2004, in St. Michaels in Texarkana, Texas, at the age of 76.

Mr. Cox was born on February 11, 1928, in Pike County, the son of Columbus Bruish and Flora (Murphy) Cox.

He was retired from the oil well industry, and was a poultry and cattle farmer in later years. His love for timber and logging was evident in his everyday walk of life, as was his love of God's nature and all mankind.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Cox and his granddaughter, Teri LeAnn Ray.

Survivors include: one son, Donnie Ray Cox of Blevins; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lana and Carson Haynie and Loretta and Nicky Ward all of Prescott; three brothers, Huey Cox of McCaskill, C.B. Cox of Grandbury, Texas, and Buster Cox of Florida; four grandsons, one granddaughter, two great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons.

Funeral services were Saturday, February 21, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church on Hwy 29N in Prescott, with Bro. N.C. Bryan, Bro. Bill Christian, and Rev. James Williams officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott. Visitation was Friday at Shackelford Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.
